Small Christian Communities in Thamarassery Diocese was officially initiated in November 2007 following the pastoral letter of His Excellency the Bishop stating the necessity and the relevance of the formation of Small Christian Communities.It was started (formed) in all the parishes during the period of January to April 2008 . It was formed by dividing the existing wards in to small units of 15-20 families .Then seminars of the office bearers of all the forane units were conducted under the name “Fellowship 2008”. There seminars helped to enlighten the faithful about the necessity of such an organization . Brief instructions are given during the sermon in Sundays. As and when the time is available such unites are visited. In order to make the activities more efficient . Zonal directors were appointed by his Excellency the Bishop in July 2008 .There are 1420 small Christian communities in all in Thamarassery diocese.
